PTSA’s + NAF’s 2025 ARTS SHARE 

Student Guidelines 

CALL FOR VISUAL ARTISTS 

Hey Spartans, the PTSA* and the NAF* are looking for drawers, painters, sculptors, photographers and crafters to help us create an awesome “Art Share” as part of our celebration of STEAM (Science • Technology • Engineering • Art • Mathematics). Students may submit  works in a variety of media, including but not limited to: ceramics, collage, computer generated images and graphics (must be  original work with no AI assistance), crafts, drawings, mixed media, paintings, sculptures and photography.

A FEW NOTES and RULES 

• Original works only • Use of copyrighted material is prohibited 

• Drawings and paintings must either be created on a canvas or on art paper backed by sturdy material 

(such as poster board  or matte board)  

• Finished art should be no larger than 24”x30” inches including matting 

• No framed entries please

• No AI assistance 

• Artwork must be solely the work of the student

• Artist Statement must be solely the expression of the student 

• Photographs and computer generated art are to be submitted in print form  

• Artwork of students in Kinder - 5th Grades will be for exhibition only, no art panel reviews

• Students in 6th - 8th grade may optionally elect to have their work reviewed by our Art Panel (more details below)

Artwork reviewed by the Art Panel will be eligible for commendations such as 

Award of Achievement, Award of Excellence and Award of Merit

• The PTSA and NAF can help provide art supplies for any student who needs access to materials

STEP ONE: REGISTER TO SHOW YOUR WORK 

Register online by February 28 (sooner is better than later) so we know to save a space for your artwork.

STEP TWO: CREATE YOUR ART

Following the guidelines outlined above, create a Visual Art Piece that you’re inspired to display in the Art Share. If you need help or supplies, or have questions, let us know.

STEP THREE: SIGN THE BACK OF YOUR ART

On the back of your work, or on a 3x5 index card taped to your work, write your name, grade, title of your artwork and the date the work was completed. If you would like your artwork to be reviewed by our Art Panel, please do not write your name on the front of your artwork.

STEP FOUR: FILL OUT THE ART SUBMISSION FORM

Complete the ART SUBMISSION FORM on page 4, and submit it along with your artwork on March 11. We will have two volunteers outside the front office the morning of March 11 receiving students’ creations. 

STEP FIVE: COME TO THE STEAM OPEN HOUSE

Plan to come to the PTSA’s and NAF’s STEAM Celebration on Friday, March 14 

The Art Share will be featured as part of the STEAM experience. More details to come.


Important Dates 

Register online no later than February 28 to let us know you’re working on an art piece 

Artwork is due no later than March 11 

More details to come about dropping off artwork at school 

Art Show March 14 

Show will be staged on campus as part of the STEAM Open House 

About the ART PANEL

Reviewers and Scoring 

Artwork review is not mandatory. If you would prefer your piece not be reviewed, just let us know when you register online and when you complete your Artwork Submission Form. The Art Panel will consist of 2-3 art critics (such as professional artists, graphic designers, and photographers). Scoring will be based upon age-level expectations, for example - criteria for 8th graders will be a little more stringent than for 6th graders. 

Art Reviews will be based upon six criteria, as follow: 

Originality _________/15 

How the artist brings a unique perspective or  

new approach to the subject matter 

Technical Merit _________/15 

How well the artist has mastered the medium 

Color Value _________/15 

How well the variety of values play off  

each other, creating volume and depth 

Composition _________/15 

How elements are arranged within the artwork 

Presentation _________/15 

How well the work is presented - 

Includes student’s respect for the piece, along with  

info about the piece: artist statement, materials, 

dimensions, artist info, etc… 

Emotional Response _________/25 

The power of the artwork to move the viewer 

                  Total ________/100 





Based upon total score, student will be eligible for certificates as follows: 

Certificate of Outstanding Achievement 92+ 

Certificate of Excellence 85-91 

Certificate of Merit 75-84 

Budding Artist Commendation 50-74
